It is a direct commandment in the Quran and an activity that is very entrenched in the life of all Muslims. This show of love and respect not only brings forth extreme rewards, but it is also a way of getting intimacy with Allah and His dear Prophet ﷺ.

This guide addresses a few of these beautiful invocations, their relevance, and when they are best suited to be integrated into your daily life.
The Foundation: Why Recite Darood?
According to the Quran, Allah and his angels bless the Prophet. Thou who hast believed, bless [him] and take peace [at him]. (Surah Al-Ahzab, 33:56). This verse makes Darood one of the pillars of the believers. Its significance was pointed out by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ himself, who vowed that whoever offers blessings on him once, Allah will bless them ten times. Recitation of Darood is a source of peace, forgiveness of sins, a response to prayers, and acquiring the ﷺ intercession of the Prophet on the ability to obtain forgiveness on Judgment Day.
The Spiritual Benefits of Reciting Darood Sharif
Repeatedly saying the prayer of Darood Sharif is a good form of worship. The Islamic tradition describes many benefits in terms of the Hadith (sayings of the Prophet). These incentives improve the spiritual life of a believer. They also provide solace in secular things.
Gaining Allah’s Blessings
The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) remarked: whoever praises me one time, Allah will praise him ten times, forgive ten sins, and raise him ten ranks. This Sahih Muslim Hadith demonstrates such a great reward for a simple deed. All recitations make you closer to the mercy of Allah.
Closeness to the Prophet
The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) also said: The one who will be nearest to me in the judgement is the one who sent the most Salat upon me. This demonstrates that there is a direct connection between reciting the Darood and the position you will be in on the most significant day. It is one method of making the Prophet as close as you need him.
Acceptance of Supplications (Dua)
Praying to Allah is an intimate and intimate experience. Researchers suggest the use of Darood Sharif to start and finish each Dua. A Dua between two Daroods is believed to never be rejected. The Darood is a form of vehicle, with the supplication to Allah being transported to him through the Darood.
Relief from Hardships
The recitation of particular Daroods has been suggested by many saints and scholars as a way of getting rid of troubles. As an example, Durood-e-Tunajjina is considered a remedy of calamities. It can also be relieved by reciting it in moments of trouble. And, it can find solutions where one would not have expected them. It aids an individual to go through tribulations through faith and patience.
Purification of the Heart
Frequently reciting Darood Sharif cleanses the soul. It develops affection towards the Prophet. This love makes an individual admire his example. The personality of the Prophet was kind, honest and humble. Remembering him, we are reminded of the need to be these qualities. The practice purifies the heart of bad things. It substitutes them with good morals.
When and How to Recite Darood
Although the recitation of Darood can be done at any hour, there are those times, which are said to be especially blessed:
- Friday: The Prophet ﷺ told me, Attend to my prayers on Friday, and your prayers are brought to me. The best day for reciting Darood is Friday.
- During the Morning and Evening, it is a method of acquiring the intercession of the Prophet ﷺ to recite Darood 10 times in the morning and 10 times in the evening.
- Before and after Dua: wrap your prayers with Darood Shareef, and you are more likely to get the answers.
- When the Name of the Prophet is heard: This is a sign of reverence and a compulsory obligation to utter the phrase Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam (ﷺ) in case the name of the Prophet is mentioned.

It is a transformational practice and purifies hearts, enlightens souls, and creates a living relationship with the most beloved of creation, Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
